Evaluating business opportunities can be a bear. How do you know what is legit and what is not? Here are some thoughts regarding web opportunities. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Of Business OpportunitiesWorking for yourself is great, regardless of whether you are doing it for a bit of extra money or completely ditching your boss. Ironically, entire industries have evolved offering you, me and everyone opportunities to get away from The Man. From stuffing envelopes to MLM, there are a zillion different opportunities to sell peoplebusiness opportunities. All and all, it can get pretty confusing. On the web, there are two business approaches that work over and over. One is a Google program called Adsense. The other is the affiliate program opportunity. Lets take a closer look. Google Adsense is a very unique program. Businesses pay Google to advertise in its search results. If you do a search on Google, the blue ads at the top of the results and down the right column of the page are such ads. In addition to search results, Google also will place these ads on independent sites. This is where you can make a bundle in the Adsense program. Google needs sites to place its ads on. To entice webmasters to place the ads, Google will give you a share of the revenue the advertisers are paying it. When someone clicks one of them, Google pays the site owner part of the bid price per click the advertiser has agreed to pay. This is an opportunity you can take advantage of by building a site and putting Google ads on it. Google is a huge, legitimate company, so you can count on the check coming each month. Affiliate programs have been the dominant on the web for years. Essentially, a company will build a site and want to promote it. Instead of carrying the marketing load on their own, they will let you promote their products on your site. In exchange, they give you a cut of the amount paid at the sale. The cut can be a one-time payment or a reoccurring payment each month. There are a zillion affiliate programs. How do you know which one to promote? The best approach is to make a list of the sites you visit and buy from. You know the businesses are credible and have attractive prices, etc. Now go see if they offer an affiliate program. Many will and you can use them to make money. Figuring out which of the million or so advertised business opportunities are legit can be difficult. Google Adsense and "affiliate programs" are the best options on the web.
Copyright 2006 Hali ShiponThe Corporate Gift Basket concept has grown hugely over the last few years. Business owners have realised that there is nothing so important as cultivating their relationships, both with their clients and with their most outstanding employees. Fostering and nurturing professional relationships, whether employees, or clients, is absolutely vital to develop and maintain loyalty.Giving a corporate gift basket really shows that you care --- and if you are able to send a basket which reflects a hobby or a theme of interest to the recipient, your gift basket will be appreciated all the more. For example, if you know the person receiving the corporate gift basket is a keen golfer, then look for golf related gift baskets. Some of the more exclusive gift baskets contain useful items, such as practice golf balls. It really does pay to get to know your customers and your employees likes and dislikes. On the other hand, if you want to say a big thank you then check out gift baskets with that theme. These baskets are particularly appreciated around the holidays, which is an expensive time for most people. Employees with large families may buy gifts for everyone else, and nothing for themselves. When selecting your online corporate gift basket provider, ensure you choose a company which offers quality items, delivered in a timely manner. These two points are absolutely vital. Attention to detail and care in presentation is also important. Whether you are trying to say Thank You or Keep Up The Good Work, the corporate gift basket is a wonderful way to impress with your thoughtfulness and taste. It is important to ensure that your gift basket is appropriate to the level of relationship you have with the recipient. If anything, then err on the side of being more generous, rather than less. After all, you are trying to further your business relationship with this person, and if they feel you have scrimped or saved a few dollars, the effect of the gift basket will be wasted. If you are sending a corporate gift basket to a client who spends millions with your company, then sending an obviously cheap or badly presented basket could have an adverse effect. Also, sending one basket for an office of fifty people would not look good. On the other hand, sending a basket worth a thousand dollars to someone who spends only a couple of hundred bucks every other year is not economically viable. And what a fabulous way to thank a much valued employee for clinching a lucrative deal for the company, or for completing a project successfully. After receiving a corporate gift basket, it is unlikely that your valuable employee will be vulnerable to being head-hunted any time soon. There is no better way to show you appreciate and value your employees. Sending a corporate gift basket is virtually guaranteed to win the hearts of your employees. Personalising the basket is important, especially for high spending clients. Everyone likes to be treated as an individual, rather than a group. Maybe you can afford to send two baskets --- one for the office, and one for the individual? The benefits of sending a luxury corporate gift basket are long term --- you will be reaping the rewards for many years to come.
Reston, Virginia Enterprise businesses are more than ever seeking outside expert help to ensure they are properly managing their telecom and IT networks. The rationale for seeking outside help is as simple as the solution is complicated. Effective leaders know that they and their teams cannot be all things to all people. To strive for such a goal is an exercise in futility and a sure fire way to reap poor results and incur excessive costs. Its well understood that you must leverage your greatest strengths and minimize your liabilities to the greatest extent possible, in order to vigorously compete in the global marketplace, have expectations for success and still have peace of mind enough to pursue a social life.Fortunately for most communications network operations executives, they get it right. The solution: keep the competent and the willing on their existing internal telecom / IT network team and partner them with outside Telecom Expense Management (TEM) expertise capable of delivering a high-performing and operationally sound network at competitive market pricing. This pragmatic approach allows companies to retain the proper internal talent and control needed to effectively work with and manage the relationship with their chosen outside TEM provider, while still extracting the priceless niche expertise provided by the TEM provider. The stakes are high today and the choice of forgoing outside TEM help is often tantamount to driving your car fast through the fog or driving it for years on end without professional servicing. You may get away with it for a while, but it will catch up with you eventually. And when it does, you will wish you had made the proactive TEM choice as opposed to the reactive one of embracing complacency until an emergency dictates otherwise. The former choice is the responsible one and always the cheaper one in the long run.Because of these realities, the TEM industry has exploded in the past few years. Gartner reports that there are now over 100+ TEM firms offering their assistance to companies all along the enterprise spectrum, from companies with revenues of a few million to Fortune 50 giants. And the future looks bright for TEM providers, as the TEM arena is estimated to grow at an annual compounded rate greater than 30% through 2010, at which point its estimated to total $1.5 billion. What exactly is Telecom Expense Management (TEM)?Although definitions may vary between firms depending upon their focus and point of view, Telecom Expense Management (TEM) is generally defined as the discipline of effectively managing a communications network to achieve desired levels of service delivery / quality of service (QOS), while keeping costs contained to levels at or even better - below current market levels. For us, its fairly straightforward, says Source Loop's Managing Director & Founding Principal Chris Lee, We help companies realize maximum telecom cost savings and increase their Return on Investment (ROI), while ensuring improved operational and network performance. Thats certainly the result outsourcers are looking for, but how do you achieve these results, is a question many potential TEM clients will be interested in. According to Chris, Source Loop drives telecom costs and network performance to optimal levels through our holistic Telecom Life Cycle Approach. Source Loop is a full service TEM, so our offerings include Auditing, Cost Avoidance / Telecom Cost Elimination (TCE), Rate Benchmarking, Network Optimization, Network Assessments and our TEM practice embraces an Industry Best Practices standard that we apply to all our TEM processes. Specifically, processes involving Invoice Management, Payments, Reporting, Budgeting, Cost Allocations, Order & Inventory, Vendor Management, Technology Alternatives, Contract Negotiations etcetera. Our clients essentially become our partners; we focus on their TEM needs so they can focus on their core business. Our TEM approach is proactive, integrated and committed to providing innovative best-in-class network solutions to our clients. Our TEM clients have averaged over $1M in realized savings. What exactly is Managed Sourcing? If a solid TEM practice is essential to a healthy network, especially on a recurring basis, then Managed Sourcing acts as the spearhead at the vanguard of effective Telecom Expense Management. Managed Sourcing may generally be defined as the systematic procurement of telecom services at competitive rates. According to Source Loop Managing Director & Principal Daren Moore, A good sourcing practice is arguably the best way to save on Telecom Network costs, since savings are realized up front, before ever leaving the company coffers. Our clients have averaged in excess of 38% realized savings to date. From Source Loops perspective, Managed Sourcing is critical to controlling and managing your telecom spend, since this is often where the greatest opportunity for network savings is realized. It is perhaps one of the greatest services a competent TEM can provide. Source Loops Managed Sourcing practice utilizes its sourcing experience and current market data to evaluate rates for data, LD, voice, local and wireless services; develop and manage the Request For Proposal (RFP) process; and ensure that best of breed terms and conditions are secured from selected vendors. Enterprises would find it difficult, if not impossible, to gauge the current telecommunications market without some form of outside assistance. When selecting a TEM provider, I would highly recommend that you evaluate the firms Sourcing capabilities, as this truly is a powerful driver of network cost savings, says Daren.Source Loops managed sourcing solution includes: the development of a complete inventory of services; a comprehensive network assessment; full rate and term benchmark comparisons of existing services to best available for comparable spend; RFP development; leads negotiations with vendors; and provides full read-outs and recommendations to clients. * Source Loop is a privately held (LLC) Telecom Expense Management & IT consulting firm based in Reston VA, with an office in Alpharetta, GA., offering both professional and managed services designed to enable companies to effectively manage their Telecom / IT networks and service providers. If you've always dreamed that you would be your own boss someday, don't worry. It's not too late. With many Internet businesses today, there are people who have gone before you who will train you and help you succeed along the way. You just have to know where to find them.Online Business ChallengesSome of the online business challenges you might face include a lack of advertising dollars, lack of knowledge about the Internet in general, and the overwhelming task of designing and updating your website. Also, keep in mind that when you own your own business, you'll be responsible for your own accounting and taxes. As with any home based business, an online business requires self-discipline and hard work. Though there are many responsibilities, the rewards can far exceed the challenges.Mentors for Your Home BusinessWhen you sign on for any income opportunity, be sure there are mentors available who can help you get started. You can learn from them and avoid many pitfalls. A mentor can show you how to get started with your own website, how to increase cash flow, how to build your customer base, and how to operate your business for future profits. With some business opportunities, a mentor will be provided for you when you join. This person should be skilled and knowledgeable. They should offer proof of their own success and be willing to help when you have questions. It's best to learn from the mistakes of others than to jump right into opportunities ignorantly.Investments for Online BusinessWith any online business, you'll likely be required to invest some money at the start. Whether you're starting your own company selling products or services, or planning to join another company to sell their goods and services, you'll likely be required to pay a fee to get started. Consider this money to be an investment, not merely a fee. Think ahead to the return on your investment. Ask your mentor how much you can potentially earn before getting started. If you join an opportunity where you can earn from the investment of those who sign up under you, then be sure the investment amount and compensation amount is enough to earn a good income without scaring away new prospects. With any product or service, there is always a price threshold that newcomers are willing to pay. Be sure the company you are working with has already tested their pricing so you won't have to waste time trying it yourself.Set Realistic GoalsAsk your mentor to help you set realistic goals at the start. You probably won't start out making a fortune, but with realistic goals, you'll feel that you are accomplishing something. Set short-term and long-term online business goals. The goals should include how many prospects you should contact and how many sales you need to make to reach your goals.Keep focused on your goals and be sure to follow the lead of your mentor. You'll find owning a "home based business" to be enjoyable and lucrative once you know how to do it.
When you start a home business, the first question that probably comes to mind is "how will I ever build my business to earn money and become financially free?" With any "home business" , financial freedom doesn't just happen overnight. Whether you're selling products from your own warehouse or factory, selling e-books (written by you or reselling), or offering a valuable service, there are some home business "musts" for success.Research, Research, Research! If you don't have a product or service to offer, you can always opt for a ready-made home business. A ready-made home business is one that is set up by another individual or company in which you are trained to sell their products to others. Before delving into a ready-made home business, research many opportunities to find out what types of products and services you'll be able to offer to your clients. Don't jump on every bandwagon you see. Read what each business opportunity has to offer and compare value-added services with the investment required. Find out what's involved to join, promote, and continue with the business.Try to find a home business opportunity that you feel comfortable with and will enjoy doing for a long time. If you enjoy your business, you're more likely to succeed and realize "financial freedom" .Choose a Home Business that Fits Your PersonalityNot every home business type will be right for you. Choose one that fits your personality. If you enjoy sales and are very good at it, then choose a home business that allows you to interact with others by phone, e-mail, or face to face. The business might include direct sales to the end consumer, business-to-business sales, or networking to help others realize financial freedom. If you would rather promote online and do your own thing without much interaction, then start a [*_*] that allows you to do this. If you prefer to sign on with another company to promote their products or services, find out if they will close the sales for you. If they will do this, you can have freedom to promote and build the business doing what you love the most. Work Diligently from HomeOnce you decide on the type of business, it's time to work! Put your best foot forward when starting a [*_*]. Don't assume that working from home will be easy. To have a real business, you must really work at it. Create a business plan and set realistic goals to "earn money" and achieve financial freedom over a period of time. Then spend much time finding ways to promote your business for real results. Beware of promotional companies that sound too good to be true. There are some very dependable promotional companies, but there are also many scams. Research a company before paying into their programs. Look for companies that have been around a while and have a good reputation. Ask around in discussion forums (related to your type of business) for advice and resources on promotion.Create a Steady Cash SystemOnce you promote your [*_*] a while and start getting sales, determine what you'll need to do to create a steady cash system for the future. Find ways to maximize your efforts. Create more content for your website that will attract additional search engine traffic. Start an e-zine (electronic newsletter) to gain repeat visitors to your website. Add more products or services to get repeat business. These will help you continue in success for the long run. Your income will be steady and you'll be able to make money from home on a full-time basis.Continuing EducationLearn all you can about your business and products. If you're selling e-books that were written by others, read as many of them as you can so you'll know the quality and details of the items you are selling. If offering a service, learn how to offer the best service possible. You can easily order home study courses to help you learn new trades or improve on your skills. The more you know about your business and products, the better you'll be able to promote them and assist your customers when they have questions. If you follow these simple steps, you'll be able to start a [*_*] that brings you satisfaction each day. Financial freedom is sure to follow!
